Hand, Held: An Evening of Art, Memory & Tea
About the Evening
we’re welcoming Wah-Ming Chang, a writer and bookmaker based in Brooklyn, New York, to TeeTao for an intimate evening around her forthcoming artist’s book, Hand, Held.
The book explores her father’s art practice, his studio, and the memories held within their relationship.
Before its publication by Bored Wolves in Kraków, Wah-Ming will share handmade booklets and photographic prints of her father’s work and studio, with words from the book typed onto the backs of the images.
Rather than a formal book launch, this is a small gathering around the project before it enters the world.

What to Expect
During the evening, Wah-Ming will speak about her father, his work, and the process of making Hand, Held.
Guests will be able to look through photographs and handmade materials from the project, hear selected stories behind the book, and spend time together over tea.
The evening is designed to be intimate and conversational, with space for questions, discussion, and quiet looking.
Tea for the Evening
Wah-Ming’s father is from Sichuan, where the gaiwan holds a particular place in everyday tea culture.
For this gathering, tea will be served in gaiwans, bringing a small element of her father’s cultural background into the evening.
Guests will enjoy tea together while Wah-Ming shares the stories behind Hand, Held.
