Walking With Tea: Teetao at Tea Walk 2026
In early February 2026, Helsinki entered its annual Tea Week (2–8 February) — a moment in the year when tea steps into the public eye, not as a product, but as a shared cultural experience.
This year, Teetao again took part in Tea Walk (Teekävely), an open public event organised by Teen Ystävät ry, where visitors walk through the city and visit selected tea shops that are participating in Tea Week.
For us, Tea Walk was not about showcasing abundance, but about slowing down, offering clarity, and letting tea speak through taste.
A Walk Through Tea, Not a Rush Through Flavours
Tea Walk invites people to move — physically and mentally — from one tea space to another.
Each stop is brief, but intentional.
At Teetao, we wanted the experience to feel quiet, focused, and grounded.
Rather than explaining everything at once, we let the tea unfold gradually.
The Teas We Shared
We prepared four teas, served in sequence.
Magnolia Flower — a Gentle Beginning
We welcomed guests with magnolia flower as a warm-up drink. Light, floral, and calm, it set the tone before moving into true tea. Not as an introduction to complexity, but as an invitation to pause.
Alishan Oolong
Clean, soft, and layered. This high-mountain oolong offered structure without heaviness — a tea that rewards attention, even in a short tasting.
Jasmine Golden Monkey
A familiar aroma for many, but different when brewed gently.
The jasmine is restrained, allowing the underlying tea to remain present rather than hidden.
Pu erh Premium
Deep, grounded, and steady.
A contrast to the earlier teas, offering warmth and a sense of continuity.
Oriental Beauty
We closed with Oriental Beauty, a tea shaped by nature itself.
Its leaves are bitten by tea jassids, triggering the release of aromatic compounds that create a natural honey-like sweetness. It is a tea that often sparks conversation — not because it is rare, but because it reminds people that tea is a collaboration between plant, environment, and time.
During Tea Walk, people do not stay long. There is no long ceremony, no extended explanation. And yet, in those few minutes, something happens. Cups are held quietly. People listen, not just to us, but to the tea. Some smile, some nod, some simply move on — carrying the taste with them into the cold Helsinki afternoon.
For us, this is enough.
Why We Participate
Teetao exists to create space — for tea, for attention, and for cultural exchange. Tea Walk aligns naturally with this philosophy. We are grateful to everyone who stopped by, walked with us for a moment, and shared a cup.
Until the next walk.
Until the next bowl of tea.
