Lu An Gua Pian
Lu An Gua Pian
Lu An Guapian, or Melon Seed Slices, is a famous green tea from Anhui Province and one of China’s celebrated teas. Unlike most green teas, it is made from mature leaves with stems removed, giving them a flat, oval shape that resembles melon seeds.
When brewed, it produces a bright green liquor with a clean refreshing aroma. The taste is smooth and brisk, with vegetal freshness, natural sweetness and a subtle toasty finish.
*All ingredients of this tea are 100% organically grown.
The Tea Story
Why this tea: Lu An is its Anhui origin; Guapian means “melon seed slices”, describing the flat oval leaves.
What makes it special: It uses mature leaves only, with stems removed and pan-fired into its signature melon-seed shape.
Taste profile: Clean and refreshing, with brisk vegetal notes, natural sweetness and a subtle nutty-toasty finish.
Recommended Gongfu Brewing Method
Recommended teaware: Use a gaiwan or glass teapot to observe the leaves as they expand. Yixing clay is not recommended, as it may soften the tea’s bright character.
Water temperature: 70–80 °C.
Brewing: Use 1 g per 50 ml water (about 3 g for a 150 ml gaiwan). Steep for about 50 seconds, then add 5–10 seconds per round. Brew at least 5 times.
