Shou Mei

Shou Mei is a traditional white tea from Fujian, made from more mature leaves and buds harvested later in the season. Its name, meaning “Longevity Eyebrow,” refers to the twisted leaves, resembling the eyebrows of elderly sages in Chinese art. Compared with Silver Needle and White Peony, Shou Mei has a fuller body and deeper colour. It brews into a rich amber liquor with notes of dried fruit, honey and wood.

Harvest: 2024. Origin: Fujian, China.

Gongfu brewing: use a porcelain gaiwan, 1 g per 30 ml water at 80 °C. Steep for about 30 seconds, then add 10 seconds per infusion. Brew 4–5 times.
