Silver Needle - Bai Hao Yin Zhen - "白毫银针" - Premium Fujian White Tea
Harvested in early spring from young buds in Fuding, Fujian. This premium white tea is known for fine silver hairs and a refreshing grassy aroma. The flavor is clean and mildly sweet, with delicate vegetal and hay-like notes — a pure expression of white tea’s natural elegance.
The Tea Story
Why the name Silver Needle?
The long, slender buds resemble needles and are covered in fine silvery-white hairs (毫, hao).
Why is it special?
Made only from spring buds with minimal processing, it preserves natural sweetness and aroma.
Fujian vs. Yunnan:
Fujian Silver Needle is grassy, clean and delicate; Yunnan Silver Needle (Big Tips Silver Needle) is fuller-bodied, floral and fruitier.
Recommended Gongfu Brewing Method
Recommended teaware: Porcelain gaiwan.
Water: 80 °C
Ratio: 1 g per 30 ml (5 g for a 150 ml gaiwan)
First infusion: 1 minute, then decant fully
Later infusions: add 10 seconds each round
Pour gently along the gaiwan wall rather than directly on the buds. Brews 5–6 times.
